West LegalEd Center presents a timely and in-depth audio webcast featuring leading campaign finance experts on the practical effects and the broader impact of the Supreme Court's landmark decision in
Citizens United v. FEC. The Court's bombshell opinion in that case has eliminated the legal restrictions on independent political advertising by corporations and labor unions, and is triggering a new round of attention to campaign finance laws from the White House to Congress to state and local governments around the country.
The panel will be led by Caplin & Drysdale's Trevor Potter, long-time counsel to Sen. John McCain and Joseph M. Birkenstock, former Chief Counsel to the Democratic National Committee. Two other speakers will also join them to discuss the Court's ruling, its reasoning, and the ripple effects it will have on the political activities of business and labor in the 2010 election cycle and beyond.
