Peter Barnes Comments: U.S. Role in Global Tax Rewrite Uncertain After Trump Win

The election of Donald Trump has thrown the U.S. government's commitment to a global project aimed at curbing tax avoidance into doubt.  Peter Barnes, of counsel in the international tax group at Caplin & Drysdale, Chartered in Washington, said it isn't helpful to the BEPS project or to the U.S. for the country to sit on the sidelines.  “I expect the new administration will hire smart, savvy international tax leaders who recognize this point and who will continue the U.S. participation in BEPS,” he told Bloomberg BNA.
