Caplin & Drysdale Attorney Sharon Nokes Promoted to Of Counsel

Washington, D.C. – Caplin & Drysdale, a Washington, D.C. based law firm, promotes Sharon Weinberg Nokes to Of Counsel in the firm effective February 1, 2012. Ms. Nokes focuses principally on advising tax-exempt organizations and their donors.

Ms. Nokes joined the firm in 2008 as an associate in the Exempt Organizations group. She advises a broad range of nonprofit organizations—including some of the nation's largest private foundations and publicly-supported charities, as well as educational institutions, cultural organizations, supporting organizations, and healthcare organizations—on tax, corporate governance, and other compliance issues. She has represented clients before the IRS in complex audits, ruling requests, exemption applications, and other matters. She has also represented clients before the Treasury Department and Congress with regard to new or pending law and regulations. Ms. Nokes received a B.Mus. from the Eastman School of Music, a M.Mus. from the Manhattan School of Music, and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
