Trevor Potter and Other Political Scholars Analyze the Impact of Citizens United

Trevor Potter, head of Caplin & Drysdale's Political Law practice, spoke at a conference with other political scholars and law professors. The conference was jointly hosted by the Campaign Finance Institute and the University of Virginia's Miller Center of Public Affairs. The speakers analyzed the impact of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. The 5-4 ruling from January 2010 eliminated restrictions on campaign spending by outside groups. Congressional Democrats tried to pass a bill in response that would have required greater disclosure for campaign spending, but the measure failed to pass the Senate. View >>
